Two years ago I did a review of Bodyline that has become one of my more popular articles. A year later, I did a review on replica quality, which also has received quite a bit of attention. As I’ve mentioned in both articles, it is my opinion that there is a lot of interest in the products that come from Bodyline and taobao replica companies, but that may of the reviews are misleading because people want to emphasize the quality to price ratio, instead of give an unbiased review of the item’s actual quality. And, just to repeat my opinion – I don’t think that there is anything wrong with purchasing a lower-quality item because it is less expensive, but I don’t think it is right to mislead others into thinking that a cheap item is exceptionally well made because you want to justify your purchase.
Obviously, I have some bias. In general, I prefer brand items because I find that they fit my proportions better than most Bodyline or replicas (even the ones made to measure) because brands include flexibility in their designs with shirring, waist ties, and adjustable straps. I also enjoy a lot of the custom details that come in the form of buttons, lace, and other findings that aren’t included in cheaper garments. However, I do know that some of what I’m paying for is simply brand name, but to me, it is worth the bit of extra cash to have a garment I adore, instead of one that is simply acceptable. It might not be worth it to you, and that is fine.
