A few days ago I received a comment that I’ve been debating about publishing. While I agree with the general sentiment of the comment, the wording makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. This is the second time it’s happened over the last year, so I figure that before I start talking about sensitive topics I should set up a comments policy.
Basically, there are only two rules:
To begin with, I will not tolerate comments sexist, sizest, racist, homophobic or otherwise bigoted in nature. You are free to disagree with what I’m saying, but you should have a reason other than ” I don’t like gays” or “fat people smell.”
If am speaking about a situation that I personally witnessed, but have left out the names of community members in an effort to protect their privacy, I expect commenters to respect my decision. If you make a comment with that person’s name or personal information, I will either edit or not publish your comment.
That’s it! I doubt that these will be difficult for all of my fellow Ducklings, as most of you have been very civil in your comments.
